Another year over and we’ve been blessed with more amazing music than ever. This year I have been blessed with the return of high-school loves Jonas Brothers, discovered new favourites like No Rome and continued to fall deeper in love with my all-time favourites The 1975.
I feel like top album lists are too hard, as most of my favourite songs end up off EPs and single releases, so, here’s a list of my top 5 releases of 2019.
#5 Happiness Begins – Jonas Brothers

I’m honestly still in shock that my favourite band of over a decade reunited and came back with such a perfect album. Never in my life you’d I have thought I’d hear Jonas Brothers playing over my work stereo system, nor would I think I’d ever potentially had the chance to see them live again. So here’s hoping 2020 delivers my favourite brothers to Australia.
Favourite Song: ‘I Believe’.
#4 Crying In The Happiest Places – No Rome

A new discover this year and one that I instantly fell in love with and then had the blessing to see him perform live twice alongside The 1975. Big things to come for this dude in 2020.
Favourite Song: ‘Cashmoney’
#3 Amo – Bring Me The Horizon

By far the best album of 2019. Hands down. Nobody can fight me on this. I wish I could go back and edit my initial review of it because I’d give it 5 stars. The more you listen to it, the better it gets. Exceptional.
Favourite Song: *its a tie between* ‘Mother Tongue’ & ‘Sugar Honey Ice & Tea’
#2 People – The 1975

My jaw instantly hung open when I first heard this track. “The 1975 have snapped” I remember writing. This song is brutal and aggressive but so socially relevant and hard-hitting lyrically. The 1975 can do no wrong and this upcoming NOACF album is going to blow my mind, I know it.
Favourite Lyric: “I don’t like going outside so bring me everything here”
#1 Jellyfish – Slowly Slowly

I’ve loved Slowly for a few years now and absolutely adored their debut album ‘St Leonards’ to death. When this track dropped earlier in the year I was instantly hooked. It has since been the song that’s gotten many of my close friends into them, and I’ve screamed it out loud at about 3+ shows this year alone. Best Aussie band by far, constantly churning out incredible music.
Favourite Lyric: “Oh yeah fuck it let’s get four / One for me and you and the other three to skateboard”
