Stripping away the bubbly facade of typical love songs, Nothing But Thieves show us the dirty, dark and gripping emotion of a ‘real’ love song in their latest release ‘Real Love Song‘.
“This is a love song, real love / Dirty rip out the whole of your soul love/ I’ll hate myself for days love / Sitting all alone and listening to Nick Cave love”
Driven by a dark and crisp drum beat it has a chillingly haunting aura surrounding it. A gritty and distorted guitar line rips through the pre-chorus as singer Conor Mason’s falsetto’d chorus takes it to a higher place, preaching his love toward the heavens. “It wont go away / It won’t go away” repeated over and over is a forceful depiction of the driving insanity that is rumerated on when love may seem far away or lost altogether. Triumphantly soul-crushing it oozes violent passion, pain and desperation.
‘Real Love Song’ coincides with the announcement of the bands third album ‘Moral Panic’, out October 23rd, yet in the meantime the band have been busy as ever performing their own songs during their In Solitude series, as well as Conor’s own Sun Sessions cover series. Better yet, they even got their fans together for an EPIC rendition of ‘Sorry’ that depicted 150 videos of fans singing along with the band in a crazy compliation video that is oh so wholesome, check it below.
Powerful new release! Very keen to hear the full album come October time!
